Consciousness Scale from Dr. David Hawkins
“Dr. Hawkins and his team did millions of calibrations to define a range of values to sets of attitudes and emotions. They adapted the classifications of these fields to be easily comprehensible. And clinically correct.
It is very important to understand that the calibration figures do not present arithmetic, but rather a progression, thus the level 300 is not twice the amplitude of 150, it is 10 to 300th power.
All levels below 200 are destructive of life in both the individual and society at large, all levels above 200 are constructive expressions of power. The decisive level of 200 is the fulcrum that divides the general areas of force and power.
In describing the emotional correlations of the energy fields of consciousness, keep in mind that they are rarely manifested as pure states in an individual.
Levels of consciousness are always mixed; a person may operate on one level in one area and quite another level in another area.
An individual’s overall level of consciousness is the sum effect of these levels.
Although the levels describe a great span of variations it is uncommon for people to move from one level to another during a lifetime. The energy field that is calibrated upon birth only increases on average a few points, 5 to be exact in Dr. Hawkins’s findings. That an individual level of consciousness is already in effect at birth is a sobering idea with profound implications.
The collective stayed at 190 for many centuries and jumped to 207 in the 90’
A few individuals of advance consciousness counterbalance entire populations at lower levels. One individual at 300 counterbalance 90 000 individuals below 200, 400 however counterbalances 400 000, 500 – 750 000.
Conversely, the extreme negative of a few perverse individuals can sway entire cultures and produce a drag on the general level, as history illustrated. A mere 2.6 of the population accounts for 72% of society’s problem.
It is possible to make sudden positive jumps, leaping up even hundreds of points.
If one can truly evolve the egocentric draw of sub-200 attractor fields, consciously choosing a friendly, earnest, kind, and forgiving approach,
eventually making charity towards others one’s primary focus, higher levels can certainly be attained. In practice, great will is required.
Thus although it is not ordinary to move out of one field into another during one’s lifetime, the opportunity still exists. It remains for motivation to activate the potential, without the exercise of choice, no progression will occur.
Every act thought and choice adds to a permanent mosaic, our decisions ripple through the universe of consciousness to affect the lives of all, as physics reiterates, everything in the universe is connected with everything else.
Fear (Calibration Level 100)
Fear of danger runs much of the world, spurring on endless activity. Once one focuses on fear, the endless fearful events of the world feed it. Fearful thinking can balloon into paranoia or generate neurotic defensive structures, and because it is contagious, it can become a dominant social trend.
Dr. Hawkins indicates that faith is capable of reducing overall levels of fear. The spiritual energy shifts brain dominance to a more benign system processing by which stress hormones are replaced by endorphins and levels of serotonin and other neurotransmitters
It is helpful to remember that if God were not All-Merciful, we probably would not even be alive today.
Finally, there can be an addiction to the excitement of fear. Jesus Christ said that fear is the last obstacle to be overcome.”
Tool: Tuning Frequencies/radio stations
The first tool I want to suggest to you is they become aware of the frequencies as radio stations. When a thought arises, we can choice moment to moment if we want to listen to that radio station.
In my practice, I use this tool extensively. It does not matter if the default station is insecurity, fear, inner judgment, anger, victim/persecutor consciousness.
The practice required is the moment to moment vigilance of the radio station you tune into.
Note that this does not require anything else than being aware of what station you are tuned into and subsequently switching it off if you no longer want to vibrate at that station.
The practice is Presence and making a choice not to vibrate there any longer.
I found that it is counterproductive in this practice to in the moment of choice aim for another station, as it complicated the action merely because the station needs to be turned off so many times until the relation/default with the station is broken.
Just by switching off, you create space for a new station to start to play naturally and organically. The focus is on choosing something else, even when you are not clear about what will be. And the first step is saying no thank you to the default station.
“Courage calibrates at 200
This is the zone of exploration, accomplishment, fortitude, and determination. At the lower levels, the world is seen as hopeless, sad, frightening, tempting, or frustrating, but at the level of Courage, life is seen as exciting, challenging, and stimulating.
Courage implies the willingness to try new things and to deal with life. At level 200, for example, there is the energy to learn new job skills, and growth and education are now attainable goals.
There is the capacity to face fears or character defects and to grow despite them, and anxiety does not cripple as it does at the lower stages of evolution. Obstacles that defeat people whose consciousness level is below 200 act as stimulants to those who have evolved into the first level of true power.
People at this level put back into the world as much energy as they take from it. At lower levels, populations, as well as individuals, drain energy from other individuals and society without reciprocating.
Crossing over level 200 is the most critical step in the evolution of human consciousness
TOOL: Accepting responsibility and being accountable for one’s decisions or actions.
At level 200, there is intuitive acceptance of the truth of accountability as a spiritual and social reality.
Neutrality (Calibration Level 250)
Rising above oppositions that drains one’s energies, the Neutral condition allows for flexibility and a nonjudgmental, realistic appraisal of problems. To be neutral means to be relatively unattached to outcomes.
This is the beginning of inner confidence. The expectation that life, with its ups and downs, will be okay if one can roll with the punches is an attitude of level 250. People at Neutrality have a sense of well-being; the mark of this level is a confident capability to live in the world. This is the level of safety.
Freedom ensues from not having an emotional investment in outcomes or insistence on having it ‘my way’.
Neutrality is content to attract rather than promote.
In Neutrality, there is trust in God as being nonjudgmental and benign, God is the source of freedom because Divinity no longer seems to be a threat to be feared or hated and therefore denied.
TOOL: The process of letting go and surrendering.
Thus, by nonresistance, the door is opened for the Grace of Divine energy that propels the evolution of consciousness
Level Temptation Neutrality: Indifference, withdrawal
Willingness (Calibration Level 310)
This very positive level of energy may be seen as the gateway to higher levels of awareness.
Willingness implies that one has overcome inner resistance to life and is committed to participation. Below level 200, people tend to be close-minded, but by level 310, a great opening occurs.
Willing people are builders of and contributors to society. With their capacity to bounce back from adversity and learn from experience, they tend to become self-correcting.
Giving up resistance, less effort is required to function in the world. Life is enjoyed instead of resisted
The energy of Willingness is also the level of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”
Willingness is harmonious and is expressed as the ‘win-win’ attitude.
TOOL: Willingness to face inner discomfort for the sake of reaching a higher goal.
Level Temptation Willingness: Overcommitment, overinvolvement
Acceptance (Calibration Level 350)
At this level of awareness, a major transformation takes place with the understanding that oneself is the source and creator of the experience of one’s life. Taking such responsibility is distinctive at this degree of evolution, characterized by the capacity to live harmoniously with the forces of life.
Below consciousness level 200, there is the tendency to see oneself as a victim at the mercy of life. This stems from a belief that the source of one’s happiness or the cause of one’s problems is ‘out there’.
The enormous jump of taking back one’s power is completed at this level with the realization that the source of happiness is within oneself. At this more evolved stage, nothing ‘out there’ can make one happy, and love is not something that is given or taken away by another but is created from within.
Acceptance essentially has to do with balance, proportion, and appropriateness.
Long-term goals take precedence over short-term ones; self-discipline and mastery are prominent.
Acceptance includes rather than rejects.
The success of level 350 is based on the willingness to apply the principle of forgiveness. Thus, vindictiveness is replaced by mercy, which allows for greater harmony and well-being.
Therefore, Acceptance can see and accept the limitations of human life and keeping balance and equanimity.
By surrendering the wish to change or control others, there is reciprocal freedom of not being controllable by others’ opinions and values, nor is there a desire or need for their approval.
TOOL: Thus, developing a sense of humor assists at this level of evolution of consciousness
Level Temptation Acceptance: Failure to take appropriate action
The progression of the evolution of consciousness is accelerated by the combination of intention plus attention.
Therefore, to ‘expect a miracle’, or ‘pray for the highest good’ accelerates the resolution of a perceived problem.
This is facilitated by surrendering judgmentalism and the desire to control outcomes.
Thus, one is ‘responsible for the effort and not the results’. Surrendering the control of outcomes is also beneficial in that it precludes either self-blame or pride about them.
The focus of attention in and of itself tends to support progress, which consequently becomes progressively effortless. “
